I dreaded hearing someone give this song the shameless-diva treatment on Idol, but Brooke eases my fears. Her country-inflected vocal changes up the song without turning it into a giant ski slalom of power runs. It's not her best performance yet, but it's a fine, mature vocal. Sometimes it's not what you do with the song, but what you don't.
